The Arlington YMCA is currently located on a 4.39-acre parcel at 3400 13th Street North in Arlington, Virginia, which is an approximate 10-minute walk to the Virginia Square-GMU Metro Station. Republic and The Michaels Organization (headquartered in Camden, NJ, a national leader in residential real estate serving 145,000 residents in more than 425 communities in 35 states, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands), have formed a joint venture to develop the eastern portion of the YMCA property into a residential project containing a mix of micro, studio, one- and two-bedroom homes totaling 374 units. Massing will be three and four stories confronting 13th Street North, rising to seven stories as the approaches Washington Boulevard. Automobile parking totaling 311 below grade spaces and service vehicles will access the property from North Kirkwood Road via a new cart path. A drop-off and pick-up only will be off of 13th Street North.
