Republic master planned Carolina Park as a cohesive, self-contained Smart Growth community designed to meet the needs of the highly desirable, fast-growing Charleston, South Carolina, marketplace. The approvals achieved by Republic in 2004 were the culmination of over 20 years of effort by the original land owners that Republic was able to bring to fruition.
Carolina Park is located immediately adjacent to the East Cooper Airport, north of historic downtown Charleston, which has been one of the fastest growing sub-markets in the Charleston area.
A signature element of the new development is a 3 million square foot business park, specially designed to appeal to high-tech and headquarters operations. The master-planned community houses schools (the Wando High School opened in August, 2004), parks, a library, a fire station, carefully planned retail clusters and scattered residential neighborhoods, all under a comprehensive, master association, which ensures that the development will be of the highest quality and character.
Carolina Park’s master-planned components are connected with an internal road system designed to alleviate traffic on the town’s major arteries. Miles of bike and walking paths, and a necklace of green spaces, surround over 1,700 residential units in a series of distinct neighborhoods and 1.2 million square feet of regional and service-oriented retail.
The Carolina Park project was sold in 2010.
